The body is the first investment.

Financial progress means less if your body breaks down early. This section covers the habits, training, and clean-living choices that compound over time.

Training Philosophy

◎Four principles that actually last.

01

Consistency over intensity

Four days of moderate training done every week for a year will outperform six days of intense training done for three months. The body responds to patterns, not peaks. Build a schedule you can actually keep.

02

Strength first

Resistance training is the highest-return physical investment available. It builds muscle, improves insulin sensitivity, strengthens bone density, and extends functional longevity. Cardio complements it, it does not replace it.

03

Progressive overload, not complexity

Add weight, add reps, or improve form. That is the entire system. Most program-hopping is just avoidance of the discomfort of getting incrementally stronger over months.

04

Recovery is the work

Sleep is the most powerful performance-enhancing tool available and it is completely free. Seven to nine hours. Consistent bed time. Cold, dark room. The gains happen in the rest, the training just creates the stimulus.

A Sample Week

◈5-day training template

Adapt this to your schedule. The principles hold, the specific days do not matter as much as the pattern.

Monday

Upper body push

Bench press, overhead press, incline dumbbell, tricep work

Tuesday

Lower body

Squat or leg press, Romanian deadlift, lunges, calf raises

Wednesday

Active recovery

Walking, stretching, zone 2 cardio, 30 to 45 minutes

Thursday

Upper body pull

Pull-ups or rows, lat pulldown, face pulls, bicep curls

Friday

Full body compound

Deadlift, squat variation, press variation, one accessory each

Weekend

Rest or play

Hike, swim, sport, walks, movement that does not feel like exercise

Clean Living

◈Non-toxic swaps worth making.

These are not perfectionistic recommendations. They are the highest-leverage swaps based on research, practicality, and cost. Do not overhaul everything at once, replace products as they run out.

◈Personal Care

Deodorant→ Native or Corpus Naturals

No aluminum. Actual odor control. Both are widely available and unscented options exist for sensitive skin.

Body wash→ Dr. Bronner's (castile)

Biodegradable, concentrated, and works as shampoo, face wash, and household cleaner. One bottle does a lot.

Sunscreen→ Thinksport SPF 50+

Mineral-based with zinc oxide. EWG top-rated. No oxybenzone or octinoxate. Reef-safe.

Toothpaste→ David's Natural or Burt's Bees

No SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate), no artificial sweeteners. The ingredient list is short enough to read out loud.

◈Home & Cleaning

All-purpose cleaner→ Branch Basics concentrate

One concentrate replaces most of the cleaning products under your sink. Non-toxic, effective, and cheaper per use than commercial brands.

Laundry→ Dropps pods or Seventh Generation

No optical brighteners or synthetic fragrance. Dropps pods are plastic-free packaging.

Cookware→ Carbon steel or cast iron

The non-stick era is ending. Teflon (PTFE) at high heat releases perfluorocarbon compounds. Carbon steel and cast iron last decades and become more non-stick with use.

Water→ Berkey or ZeroWater filter

Municipal water contains chlorine, chloramines, and trace pharmaceuticals. A good filter is not expensive relative to the quantity of water you consume over years.

◈Food & Nutrition

Cooking oils→ Avocado or extra virgin olive oil

Replace seed oils (canola, soybean, vegetable) with high-stability fats. Avocado oil for high heat. Olive oil for everything else.

Protein→ Whole food first, supplement second

Eggs, Greek yogurt, lean meat, legumes. Protein powder is useful when whole food is impractical, prioritize a clean label without sucralose or artificial flavor.

Produce→ Prioritize the Dirty Dozen organic

Strawberries, spinach, kale, grapes, peaches, cherries, buy these organic. The Clean Fifteen (avocados, onions, pineapple) are fine conventional.
